Last day in Genova + on to Alba

Wed 3/28/18

No sun this morning but at least it's not raining....yet. We again took the train into Genoa to go to the aquarium which is the largest in Italy and the second largest in Europe. We are totally spoiled by the Monterey Aquarium but this one is quite impressive and has some species that I don't recall seeing in Monterey.

We spent an enjoyable couple of hours then found an osteria where we had an unexceptional but adequate lunch that was late enough that we snacked on leftovers for dinner.

Moving day! We packed up and our hosts came to tell us goodbye. We chatted for quite a while with them then they gave us a very nice Italian cookbook (in English) as a "thank you for staying with us" gift. Our first order of business was to go to the Punto Blu station to take care of our "ticket" for improperly entering the autostrada. We were a bit anxious that this was going to be a 75 Euro mistake but it turned out to be a big nothing. We gave the guy the paper that we had been given at the toll plaza and that was that. No fine, nothing. We made it to Alba (after one little failure to take a turn that cost us 25 km of time) and checked into our new apartment.

We are in a small town now that is really very appealing.

We will for sure not go hungry here! There is a pizzeria downstairs from the apartment and a salumeria (cured meats shop), a cheese store, two bakeries with breads and sweets, and several  restaurants all within less than a 5 minute walk.

We had a decent pasta lunch at a small bistro very near the apartment, then did our requisite run on the grocery store for the essentials. We couldn't stand the temptation of a pizzeria within smelling distance so pizza was dinner!
